DIGITAL COLLECTION DAY - POLISH SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ASSOCIATION (POSK)

On 1 and 2 November 2023, POSK will be hosting ‘The Second World War Through Anglo-Polish Eyes’, a two-day event focusing on the experience of the war and its legacy within the UK’s Polish community.
Organised by the Anglo-Polish Cultural Exchange in collaboration with the University of Oxford, the centrepiece of the event will be the opportunity for members of the public to share their family’s experiences and artefacts of the war with volunteers, who will record, digitise and preserve the stories and objects in a free-to-access online archive.
The POSK event is unique in encouraging people with Polish heritage to share their stories. A range of historians and translators will be available to assist people with any questions they might have about their family’s wartime experiences, and to offer guidance with documents and medals.
Attendance is free, and booking is not required to attend the collection element of the event.

Alongside the collection event, there will be a full schedule of talks and panels as our invited speakers explore the war and émigré identities from different perspectives, from the visual arts and literature through to the role of heritage organisations and the challenges facing published authors working on Anglo-Polish topics.
